Studer - CNC Controls and Software

The Fanuc controls (16i, 310i & 21i-TB) with active 10.4" flat colour screen are suitable for most grinding applications including such as thread grinding. The PCU - process control unit enables set up close to the grinding process - The program check facility enables the operator to prove out new or modified programmes in auto mode.

Programming is simple using Studer 'Pictogramming' software especially developed to be operator friendly. Individual programs are compiled by the operator using easy to understand symbols (picto's). A large number of standard grinding cycles are already  included. The option to program direct from a DXF file is available.

Set up and resetting times have a decisive effect on the uptime available on any machine. Studer 'Quick-set' can reduce resetting times by 90% resulting in a quick workpiece changeover without the need for initial grinding. Even grinding with the wheelhead at an angle approach is not a problem as the position is automatically recalculated. The operator is guided through the set up process using an operator friendly interface. 
    
'StuderGrind' enables extended 'Pictogramming' with additional functions, grinding wheel & dressing input, data management, file management with graphical display, data transmission through RS232, HSSB and Ethernet, direct access to the control memory & programming directly from the workpiece graphic
'StuderTechnology' software enhances a machines efficiency because it enables constant quality, optimized processes and shorter production times using features such as -  grinding technology time and cost calculations for accurate costing, graphical feed , the virtual machine room and graphical program simulation to avoid costly errors
'StuderDress' can reduce dressing times by 50% by using optimized cutting forces and the 'roughing cycles'. It can be used for profiling new wheels and reprofiling existing ones. The view opposite shows the difference between conventional dress and the 'roughing cycle' method

A large number of standard wheel profiles can be created using 'Pictogramming' in 'StuderGrind'. 'StuderProfil' enables the creation of any other type of profile plus the generation of dressing programs for them. Simple or complex workpiece contours can also be produced by way of continuous path control using a radius form grinding wheel. 'StuderThread' module expands a standard universal cylindrical grinding machine to give it the functionality of a thread grinding machine. This enables these operations to be performed in-house often in a single cycle thus saving costs and time. The most common thread types plus free form thread profiles can be produced.  

'StuderForm'
when combined with the 'C' axis facility is Studer's software for grinding curves and polygons for standard applications in small batch sizes. Complex  forms effectively become as easy as cylindrical ones

'StuderFormHSM' is an expansion module for high speed machining requirements. It controls the axis drives allowing highly dynamic default values to be achieved and is ideal for individual components or large volume production

         
'StuderPunch' is the ultimate software for grinding press and die punches. It is designed to be used on both universal and production grinding machines. The software enables the production from solid diameter to form in a single operation and includes numerous pre-defined forms  - all the operator has to do is choose the shape, input the dimensions, load and grind - optional forms are available.
