Fritz Studer Award 2008

As a leading company on the market and in the technology behind cylindrical grinding, STUDER is awarding its research award, the "Fritz Studer Award" for the second time. The aim of work that is submitted to the competition should be to promote and strengthen developments in the machine industry by means of innovative approaches. In addition, participation in this competition of ideas shall serve young researchers as a platform for their creative solution methods

Studer are looking for thesis and latest research results which contain:

		Innovative machine concepts or components

		Alternative materials in mechanical engineering

		Simulation models for dynamic and thermal behavior of machine tools

		Control and sensor concepts for machine tools

		New or further developed manufacturing techniques, especially in hard fine machining, such as grinding, hard turning etc.

Fred. W. Gaegauf, Managing Director, hands over the first STUDER research award, the "Fritz Studer Award 2005" to the winner, Dr. Christoph Zeppenfeld from WZL at RWTH in Aachen, in February 2006.
